New web startup about to launch in New York city, focused on amassing the world’s opinions on everything from products and restaurants to news, politics, and religion. The company is led by a successful startup CEO and is seeking an intern to assist with a host of responsibilities associated with launching a new company. The company seeks not just commercial success, but to provide a platform for democracy, free speech, and learning on the web.
This position will not be trivial – it will not revolve around getting coffee. This will be an immersive role, placing someone at the heart of the startup experience and teaching them about the ins and outs of launching and growing a new company. The role will involve quality assurance and overseeing the development of the website/product. It will involve collecting and responding to feedback from users of the product and helping to build the user community. It will also, among other things, involve various marketing and communications activities, such as overseeing social media communications efforts on platforms like Facebook and Twitter.
The candidate may be in a senior year of college or a recent graduate. They will be extremely well versed in social media and the web, they will be a very strong communicator, and will be able to demonstrate success, positivity, and a self-starter attitude in their academic and/or professional career to date.
Responsibilities and Requirements:
* Extremely web savvy, up to date on all emerging trends online
*Extremely strong communications skills
* Ability to quickly learn detailed information about the competitive landscape, the product, and the operation
* Must be highly organized, self-motivated and able to work with minimal oversight
* Superb problem-solving skills execution skills and attention to detail
* Ability to multi-task is essential
* Great work ethic, team-player, can-do personality
* Avid user of Social Media; Twitter, Facebook and various other online communities. Intern will assist in managing brand identity through these channels.
* Some quantitative marketing background would be nice to have
* Knowledge of polling, surveys, statistics would be a definite plus
Applicants must be enrolled in or recently graduated from an accredited university and be available to work on site with team at least a few days each week from company offices in Soho/Tribeca. School credit may be available. Please submit cover letter, resume and time availability in order to be considered. We ask that the individuals spend minimum 16-20 hours per week and at least 3 months. Excellent candidates may be offered full time employment.
